About TriedStack
TriedStack is run by Yuki, a one-person operation. There is no team, no newsroom and no sponsor deciding what gets covered. That is worth saying out loud, because most of the comparison articles ranking in this space are published by companies that also sell the product they rank first.
We don't sell any of the tools we write about. We have nothing of our own to protect.
The rule the site is named after
When we have run a tool ourselves, we say what happened. When we haven't, we say that too. An article never implies hands-on experience we don't have. If a review is written from published specifications and user reviews rather than from use, it says so in the article, not in a footnote.
That is the whole reason the site is called TriedStack, and it is the one rule we will not quietly relax.
How a figure gets onto this site
Every price, limit, weight rating and specification carries the source it came from and the date we checked it. Vendors change pricing and caps without announcing it, so a number without a date is a number you can't trust.
Articles are gated before publication: a draft cannot go live while any claim is still unverified. If we cannot source a figure, the sentence containing it gets deleted rather than softened.
How we make money
Through affiliate commissions. Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. The full breakdown, including which programs we are in and how that shapes our incentives, is on the affiliate disclosure page.
The short version: several of our programs pay a recurring commission, which only continues while you stay a customer. Recommending a tool you will abandon in six weeks pays us less than telling you to wait. We would rather tell you to stay on the free option.
What we cover
Software and products for people running something small on their own — Etsy and Shopify sellers, handmade makers, photographers, freelancers and renters setting up a first place. We deliberately cover a small number of tools at a time so each one gets sustained attention rather than a single post that decays.
Corrections and contact
If a figure on this site is wrong or out of date, we want to know. Email triedstack@cocon.ltd and we will check it against the vendor's own page and correct it with a dated note.
